Loans for UniTO Users
Search for the book you’re interested in using the UniTO Library Catalogue to check its availability and see which of our libraries holds it.
By logging in with your UniTo username and password, you can access your “Personal Area” (“Spazio personale”) in the upper right corner of the UniTo Library Catalogue, where you can submit a loan request (if the book is available), place a reservation (if it is currently on loan), or renew your loans.
Wait for the confirmation email with details on how to collect the book — you won’t need to book a study seat for pickup.
Loans for External Users
If you are an external user, you can access the UniTO Library Catalogue by logging in with your SPID or CIE, provided that your name has been registered in the user database by any library of UniTO.
To be registered in the database, you must visit the library in person and submit the Privacy Policy form (GDPR), duly filled in. The form can be downloaded from this section or collected directly at the library.
You can renew your loans as long as the books you borrowed have not been requested by other users and you have no overdue items. Renewals are allowed on or before the due date.
If you have university credentials, you can renew your loans from home through the “Personal Area” of the UniTo Library Catalogue, where you can also keep track of your user account and check your active loans and reservations.
If you are writing your thesis, you are entitled to borrow more books for a longer period.
To access this extended loan service, send an email to your library, including your thesis supervisor in cc.
In your message, please include the following details: NAME, SURNAME, DATE OF BIRTH, TAX CODE, and STUDENT ID NUMBER.
The loan is personal and non-transferable and you are personally responsible for the integrity of the work and its return within the expiration deadlines. Remember to always check the integrity and state of conservation of the volume at the time of loan and notify staff of any problems.
If you damage the book or return it late you can be suspended from service in proportion to the delay period.
If you lose a book on loan you must buy it back or, if it is no longer on the market, purchase material of equal value based on the information provided by the library.
Consultation and Loan policies are described into the Regulation of the SdN Libraries Hub (Italian version only). For detailed information, please consult the section "Local services” of each library.
